Traditional Camp (ages 8 - 18)
*If this is your first adventure with Nuhop, this is the best first experience with us!
Our Traditional program is the foundation of Nuhop's summer program. There is an emphasis on positive social-emotional experiences so campers may build skills in communication, cooperation, and independence. This week is filled with outdoor adventure on and around our gorgeous 33-acre campground. The traditional camp offers a week of adventure in which campers hike the two nearby state parks, spend time in the water (swimming, tubing, slip ‘n’ sliding, and canoeing), and so much more! Camping under the stars, cooking over a campfire, playing lots of games, arts, and crafts, and more are all part of the camp experience. Campers are grouped according to chronological and developmental age, allowing for more challenging adventures to be accomplished by older campers (such as longer hikes, stretching their limits, and participating in our giant swing.)
2021 will feature a rotating weekly theme.
Magic & Mystery (Week 1 & Week 4)
Jump into a world of surprise and excitement. Campers can learn about and participate in the ancient Wizarding sporting event called Quidditch, practice sleight of hand magic, and solve age-old mysteries! These experiences, coupled with hikes, swimming, and campouts under the stars, will lead to a truly magical week.
Amazing Race (Week 2 & Week 5)
Travel around the world of Nuhop and accept fun challenges, hunt for clues, and get messy in the Nuhop Amazing Race! Teams must learn to work together, communicate, and see each other's strengths to succeed together!
Full STEAM Ahead (Week 3 & Week 6)
Enjoy a week of creating, building, exploring, and experimenting! Campers will have an opportunity to tinker with various gadgets & gizmos and participate in hikes, campouts, and canoe trips. This may include a guided inventing session, working together to design a creative Rube Goldberg machine, or build a catapult! Campers will participate in various developmentally appropriate activities that combine the wonders of science, art, and math.
