Camp Nuhop was founded in 1974 by Terrie and Jerry Dunlap. Terrie, a special education teacher, and Jerry, an educator who loved the outdoors and at-risk children, created Camp Nuhop in the hope of providing a place where children who were often misunderstood could belong, build friendships and flourish. What started as a humble learning disabilities camp for 27 kids from three counties has now grown to serve 500 kids from over 20 states, with camps for kids with ADD, ASD, and other learning disabilities.
Camp Nuhop’s magic continue on almost 40 years later, with the additions of leadership development programs and activities for teamwork building, helping people of all backgrounds find self-confidence and improve their skills.
